Celebrations and challenges

It's been great to have so many children come and visit me this week to share in their success over the summer holidays. Many have completed the reading challenge, have undertaken music exams, dance exams and competed in a wide range of sporting activity!

In assembly yesterday we were thinking about how we will respond to the challenges that this year will bring. In fun we compared the year ahead to an adventure and an expedition, in doing so we took some advice from Bear Grylls - who else better to consult.

We considered some of the challenges that he had come up against and thought about how we might respond to these - some quite terrifying for some of us! From this we concluded that success is usually built on failure and the ability to respond to this in a positive way. If we learn from our mistakes we will only ever get better at something and we most certainly don't master most things first time. Anyone who has learnt to ride a bike knows that!

We were inspired by Bear Grylls determination to learn, to pick himself up when things go wrong and by his faith and trust in a God who loves him and promises to be always with him.

As we face our new term we reflected on our need to respond to the challenges in a positive way, learning from our mistakes, learning from each other and seeking to encourage each other.

As well as being confident that God is with us every step of the way.
